世田谷の奥の院、弘法様ゆかりの玉川大師。厳かな除夜の鐘、若き龍言和尚のパワフルな読経と護摩炊きの様子。 そのライブ映像にミニマル音楽の始祖、テリー・ライリー、そして才人、オオルタイチの生演奏がミックスされるという幸運な大晦日と年の始まり。
音の錬金術師、久保田麻琴が繊細で重層的なライヴミックスをほどこす年越し。
大沢伸一、金延幸子、浜田真理子、タクシー・サウダージ、サムゲンデル (Sam Gendel) からの新年メッセージも予定される。
From the inner sanctum of Setagaya, Tamagawa Daishi, which is associated with Kobo-sama. We will broadcast the solemn New Year’s Eve bell, the powerful sutra reading, and a homa (होम) also known as havan, a fire ritual performed by the young monk called Ryugon.
The video from Tamagawa Daishi will be mixed with live performances by Terry Riley, the founder of minimal music, and the brilliant Oorutaichi
Good fortune is promised for the beginning of the year.
The alchemist of sound, Makoto Kubota, creates a delicate and multilayered live mix for this New Year’s Eve.
There will be special messages for New Year from Shinichi Osawa, Sachiko Kanenobu, Mariko Hamada, Taxi Saudade and Sam Gendel.
The New Year’s Eve bell, sutra reading, and a fire ritual, “goma burning” will be delivered in real time.
In between, we will feature Terry Riley’s minimalist live performance and Oorutaichi’s environmental music soundtrack.

■TERRY RILEY■
作曲家、ピアニストそしてヴォーカリストでもあるテリー・ライリーは、1964年に発表した代表作「in C」が大きなムーブメントを起こしたことから、ミニマリズムの父として広く認知されている。60年代後半にCBSからリリースされた「A Rainbow in Curved Air」や「Poppy Nogood」 そして「The Phantom Band」等の一連の作品は、クラシック、ジャズ、ロック、エレクトロニック・シーンに大きな衝撃を与えた。同じく60年代に日の入りから日の出まで単独で即興演奏行った「オールナイト・コンサート」は、数十年後に広く開催されるようになったレイヴイベントの先駆けである。
また、テープ・ループ、テープ・ディレイ、タイム・ラグ・アキュムレーターを用いた初期の音楽的実験は、今日のヒップホップなどに多く見られるループやサンプリング・ムーブメントの発想の原点となった。今までに彼はグッゲンハイム賞、フロム賞、NEA賞など、多数の栄誉に輝いている。
テリーはピアノをデュアン・ハンプトン、アドルフ・バレアー、ウォーリー・ローズに、作曲をロバート・エリクソンに師事。 1971年から1981年までの10年間、オークランドのミルズカレッジで作曲とラーガの教鞭を取った。70年代、テリーは北インドの偉大なボーカリスト、パンディット・プラン・ナートの弟子となり、1970年から1996年にプラン・ナートが亡くなるまで、世界中で数多くのコンサートに同行した。チャップマン大学、カリフォルニア芸術大学、サンフランシスコ音楽院で3つの名誉音楽博士号を取得。
彼の作品群はほぼ全てのジャンルを網羅しているといっても過言ではないが、その内、２５曲以上に及ぶ弦楽四重奏のための作品のほとんどは、盟友クロノス・クァルテットとの40年に及ぶ共同作業で書かれたものである。また、100人編成の巨大オーケストラの為の交響曲や、協奏曲としては、ヴァイオリンと2本のギター、エレクトリックヴァイオリン、パイプオルガン、コーラスとオーケストラの為の作品も手がけ、室内オペラ「聖アドルフ・リング」など、多数の作品を生み出し続けている。
1960年代初頭からソロや様々な小グループで演奏活動を行ってきたテリーは、今に至るまでアメリカ、ヨーロッパ、アジアでのツアーを精力的に行っており、ステファノ・スコダニビオ、ジョージ・ブルックス、トレイシー・シルバーマン、ポール・ハンソン、ビル・ダグラス、ジョージ・マーシュ、モリー・ホルム、ザキール・フセイン、アメリア・クーニ、クリシュナ・バット、ジョン・ゾーン、ローリー・アンダーソン等との共演は特筆すべきものがある。
そして息子のギタリスト／作曲家であるギャン・ライリーのデュオ・ツアーは、22年間にわたって続いている。
Composer/pianist/vocalist
Terry Riley is widely considered the father of Minimalism, launching the movement in 1964 with IN C.
A series of his works released by CBS in the late 60s had a great impact on the classical, rock and electronic scenes.
His solo all night concerts set the stage for the Raves that would follow decades later and his early experiments with tape loops, tape delays and the creation of the Time Lag Accumulator anticipated today’s looping and sampling movement.
He has been honored with Guggenheim , Fromm and NEA awards, among others.
Terry studied piano with Duane Hampton, Adolf Baller and Wally Rose and composition with Robert Erickson. He taught composition and Raga at Mills College in Oakland for a decade (1971 to 1981).
Disciple of Pandit Pran Nath, the great North Indian vocalist, Terry accompanied the master in numerous concerts worldwide from 1970 until Pran Nath’s death in 1996. He holds 3 honorary doctorates of Music from Chapman University, California School of the Arts and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
He has written in almost every genre, including over 25 works for String Quartet; most of them during a 40 year association with the Kronos. These include 7 symphonic works, including concertos for string quartet, violin, violin and 2 guitars, electric violin, piano and pipe organ and a chamber opera, The Saint Adolf Ring.

■Oorutaichi/ オオルタイチ
1999年よりオオルタイチとして活動を開始。電子音と非言語の歌が融合 した音楽を展開する。 国内に留まらず海外での活動も精力的に行う。2012年Japan Society（NY）での単独イベント開催、2017年The Broad（LA）で開催 され たSummer Happeningへの出演をはじめ各地のイベントから招聘を 受けツアーや公演を行う。 2019年より水曜日のカンパネラ・コムアイと のユニットYAKUSHIMA TREASUREが本格的に始動。 2020年NHK総合 で放映されたアニメ「映像研には手を出すな!」では劇伴音楽を担当するな ど活動は多岐にわたる。

裸のラリ-ズ他数々のバンドで演奏、海外での演奏や録音経験も豊富。浜田真理子の新作など多くのアーティストのプロデュースをてがけ、阿波踊りや岐阜県郡上の盆踊りなど日本の音楽の録音／CD制作も行う。細野晴臣や、ライ・クーダー、レボン・ヘルムとも作品で共演。宮古島の古謡を題材とした映画 「Sketches of Myahk」 の原案整音出演を担当、スイス ロカルノ国際映画祭で準グランプリ受賞。約3万人の観客動員。大友克弘の最新短編アニメ「火要鎮」の音楽担当。
Makoto Kubota is a Japanese musician, singer, sound engineer, and producer, who began playing his trade in a band called “Les Rallizes Dénudés”in 70’s. He started recording his 1st solo album, the folk- tinged, “Machibouke” in 1973. He also played with bands like “Makoto Kubota & The Sunset Gang” in 70s and “Sandii & The Sunsetz” in 80s, opening the bill for Eric Clapton, Levon Helm, Japan,Talking Heads and the Eurythmics. Kubota produced various artists like Shokichi Kina, Dick Lee and Elvie Sukaesih, to name but a few. He also produced a million-seller track named “Kopi DangDut” in Indonesia. Teaming up with Haruomi Hosono in ’99, together they recorded an album called “HARRY & MAC”. He teamed up with Malaysia’s Mac Chew and Jenny Chin and recorded the series of albums under “Blue Asia”. He has compiled several notable albums including music from Brazil’s Nordeste, Miyakojima and other Japanese traditional/folk music. As well as concert planning; and music programming for radio programs. He co-produced the documentary film called “Sketches of Myahk”, which received a formal invitation to the Locarno International Film Festival. Kubota also produced the soundtrack for the Katsunori Otomo’s recent animation film called “Hi no Yojin”.
