Dumbo Gets Mad is a psychedelic pop project founded by Luca Bergomi in 2011. Debuting with Elephants at the Door, the project quickly gained international attention, with Pitchfork naming “Plumy Tale” one of the Top 50 Tracks of 2011 and NPR featuring “Marmalade Kids” as their Song of the Day. Over the years, Dumbo Gets Mad has continued to evolve sonically, from the cosmic jam sessions of Quantum Leap (2013) to the soul-infused elegance of Thank You Neil (2015), inspired by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. The project’s latest work, The Depth of an Answer (2024), explores existential themes through a kaleidoscopic fusion of psychedelia, jazz, and Americana, marking another bold step in their ever-evolving sound.
Celebrated for their dreamy, cinematic soundscapes, Dumbo Gets Mad has been championed by Stereogum, Slant Magazine, Refinery29, and Northern Transmissions, solidifying their place in the global psychedelic scene. Their 2021 album Things Are Random and Time Is Speeding Up led to North American and Mexican tours, further expanding their reach.
