境内の茅葺き屋根と庭が美しい趣ある書院にて、特別に公演を行わさせていただきます。

境内は山にかこまれ背後の谷戸に深く続き、長い歴史をもったお寺にふさわしい閑寂なたたずまい。

お寺の裏手には谷戸が広がり、鎌倉ならではのやぐらも見ることができます。

公演へお越しの際は、是非美しい境内、風情ある周辺の名所などもお楽しみください。

Alice Phoebe Lou

1993年生まれ、南アフリカ出身のシンガーソングライター。

南アフリカ｜ケープ半島の西海岸で育ち、ドキュメンタリー映画作家でもある両親のレコードを聴きながら、地元のウォルドルフ・スクールで演劇、アート、音楽に対する愛情を育んだ。

子供の頃にピアノのレッスンを受けたが、ギターは独学。16歳の夏休みに楽器を抱えてヨーロッパへ初めての旅に出る。パリとアムステルダムの間を行き来し、あちこちでストリート・パフォーマンスをしながら感性を磨いていった。

南アフリカに帰国し学業を終えた後、再びヨーロッパを目指し、ドイツの首都ベルリンに向かう。到着してからはギターと小さなアンプを台車につみ、ベルリンの駅や公園で弾き語りの演奏をはじめた。誰とでも隔たりなく接する人間性と、他人を理解し包み込むような彼女の歌唱は瞬く間に聴衆の心を捉え、一ヶ月後にはテレビ番組でも演奏するようになっていた。

2014年4月、ベルリンと南アフリカのケープタウンで録音した初めてのEP「Momentum」を自主リリース、2016年には、満を持してファースト・アルバム「Orbit」をリリース。2017年12月、EP「Sola」と「Song Book from Alice」という本を自主でリリースした。

2018年、オーストリアの女優、ヘディ・ラマーの伝記映画『Bombshell：Hedy Lamarr Story』のサウンドトラックに「SHE」という曲を収録。その曲が2018年アカデミー賞オリジナルソング部門ノミネート最終選考まで残り、YOUTUBEでは1300万再生を超えるメガヒット。

同年2018年には初来日を果たしOCEAN PEOPLESに出演、翌2019年にはFUJI ROCK出演と連続してツアーを敢行し、同世代の国内インディーアーティストである踊ってばかりの国、青葉市子、カネコアヤノなどと交流し、親交を深めた。

2020年にライブ盤、2021年には2枚のアルバムをリリースするなど、コロナ禍も精力的に活動。

ベルリン、ロンドンでのTEDやSXSWでのパフォーマンス、RODRIGUEZの南アフリカ・ツアーでのオープニングなども話題となり、現在も多くのメジャーレーベルから注目を集めているが、不特定多数に向けるより、熱心なファンからなるデジタル・コミュニティを育てたり、小規模で親密なライヴに相応しい曲作りに集中している。

About Jochiji Temple

Jochiji temple was built 1281 upon the death of Munemasa Hojo, the third son of Hojo Tokiyori who was the fifth regent of Kamakura government.

Its construction work was advised by Chinese monks, thus the Bell Gate and the Main Building feature Song architectural style.

Jochiji’s premises have been loved by intellectuals. The movie director Yasujiro Ozu and the Japanese painting painter Yuki Ogura used to live here. The novelist, Tatsuhiko Shibusawa rests in peace here.

Tathāgata of Amitābha, Tathāgata of Shakyamuni, and Tathāgata of Maitreya are the Buddhas of respectively the past, present and future world. They listen to our every wish.

The Main Building“Donge Doh”is named after the legendary flower that opens once in 3,000 years. Meeting the Three Worlds Buddhas is as rare as it.

The present statues were made in Muromachi period because they had been burned once. The long robes hanging down at both sides of Buddhas and black floor tiles are China (Song dynasty) Style.
